Anthony Licursi ’14 (brother of Matthew ’18) has always wanted to organize a major fundraiser – and now at 20 years old, he will be doing just that. Over the past few months, he has been organizing a dinner-dance that will benefit the Oncology Department of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation. He is hoping to raise over $30,000 net.
When seeking authorization to host the event, Anthony prepared well for his first meeting with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. As a 20-year old student, he was not sure he would be taken seriously, but he read all the material available online, and had questions ready for the personnel. Anthony was thrilled to learn his event had been approved by the Foundation in September.
For Anthony, lessons learned at Loyola on the importance of getting involved and giving back to the community have stayed with him. “As Mr. Meagher has said in the past, your Loyola experience continues after the bell rings at 3pm.” Now Anthony is seeking to find the balance between his responsibilities at school and organizing this fundraiser. He is in Health Science at Dawson, and will be applying for Political Science at Concordia for next year.
