Loyola's Plastic Water Bottle Ban

Starting Monday October 24th, disposable plastic water bottles will no longer be permitted in classrooms throughout the school. Three years ago, the library implemented a policy of banning these bottles in the library; it is time to extend this ban to the rest of the school.

Pope Francis issued a challenge to citizens around the world to care for God's creation; it is time for Loyola to address Pope Francis' challenge.

The school has three new filtered water fountains that are ideal for filling reusable water bottles; and three additional fountains are on order. There really is no reason to continue to purchase or use disposable water bottles. The cafeteria will also cease to sell disposable water bottles, and eventually this ban will expand to the vending machine in the gym lobby once outside rental groups become aware of our new policy.

Thanks to all students, faculty and staff for your support.
