Every fall, two major fundraising events bring in just under half of the financial aid awarded for the entire school year - all thanks to the generosity and support of sponsors, donors and event participants. This allows Loyola to continue its proud tradition of never turning away a qualified student because his family cannot afford to pay the full school fees.
The 20th Annual Loyola High School Foundation Golf Tournament was held on Tuesday, September 25th at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. This year, 105 golfers braved the rain and came out to support the event, which netted an incredible $247,000 for the bursary fund. The 80 corporate sponsors were integral to the tournament’s success - the main tournament sponsors being Fidelity Investments and Vitesse Transport. Over the last 20 years, the Foundation Golf Tournament has raised a total of $3,175,000, all of which has gone to support the Loyola bursary program.
The Annual Hockey Raffle is a popular raffle for a chance to win a pair of Montreal Canadiens season tickets in the Reds, all for just $20 a ticket. This year’s lucky winner was former Loyola parent, Karen Donnelly Zimanyi (Ticket #3545)! The main sales force behind the annual raffle is the student body, with all the proceeds going to support the bursary program. This year the raffle netted approximately $80,000.
One in six students at Loyola receives financial aid. These two fundraisers help ensure the school’s doors are kept open for qualified students who otherwise could not afford the fees. Diversity and accessibility form a key part of Loyola’s identity. To learn more about our financial aid program, please click here.
