Loyola High School's Anti-Racism Statement

To the members of the Loyola High School Community:

We are writing today to share with you how disturbed and saddened we are at the events that have unfolded in the United States this past week. We are deeply troubled by the ongoing racial injustices, and we want you to know that we, at Loyola, stand firmly against hatred and racism in all its forms. We acknowledge that personal and systemic racism are present in Canada as well as in the U.S., and that we must work together to bring it to an end.

While many of us may not have personally experienced racism, we want to maintain an open dialogue on this important issue, and to ensure that our school community welcomes diversity and equity. We are dedicated to forming our students to serve the broader society as men for and with others. This is much more than a slogan for us. We are preparing them to make positive change in the world, and this means helping to build a more just society.

To our students, please let one of us, or another of our staff members know if there’s anything we can do to be supportive, even if you just want to talk about what’s happening. We understand if you don’t - we just want you to know that we and our staff are here for you and your families, and that we care.
