Bursaries

Gifts designated for bursaries provide vital financial assistance to the families of students who have demonstrated that they are qualified to attend Loyola, but lack the financial resources to accept an offer of admission.

They also help preserve the tradition of socio-economic diversity at Loyola.

Bequests for assistance will continue to grow, as the government has indicated that it will likely decrease the amount of grants it provides for private education. Loyola is proud to be consistently ranked amongst the top schools in Quebec in terms of the percentage of its student body that receives financial aid in the form of bursaries (approximately 15%). This could not be achieved without the generosity of our donors.

Over the years, a great number of bursaries have been established and named in honour and in memory of groups or individuals. Several groups of graduates, for example, have come together to create class bursaries, bearing the name of their graduating year. Donors can contribute to any one of these named bursaries. When a bursary grows to the point where the annual income generated by its being invested is enough to cover a student’s tuition for the year, the bursary is considered to be “endowed”.
