Gifts of cash or securities

Donors who make an outright gift of cash to Loyola High School are eligible for a tax receipt that will reduce their taxable income for the year in which the gift was made.

When you sell securities that are worth more than what you paid for them, you incur a capital gain and are taxed on that gain. If you donate those securities, rather than the proceeds from their sale, you will be issued a tax receipt for the full value of the securities, thereby decreasing the amount of income tax you have to pay, while allowing Loyola to benefit from your capital gain. By making your gift in this way, you are maximizing both your gift to Loyola, and your tax savings.

The transfer of securities to Loyola is very easily arranged. For more information, please contact Pat Dubee at 514-486-1101, ext. 258 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
